The Children’s Illustrated Hinds’ Feet on High Places

The Original and Complete Allegory with Captivating Artwork

Hannah Hurnard, Illustrations by Mary Burrows

Sea Harp Press

Written in 1955, Hinds’ Feet on High Places is a classic Christian allegory—a book that has made a profound impact on the spiritual journeys of many adults. But we wanted to make this powerful tale available to a younger demographic. We wanted to create an unabridged, illustrated version of Hinds’ Feet that parents could read aloud to kids ages 6 to 12. The story and language are already accessible as a read-aloud, but the content needed to be packaged in a way that appealed to kids.

We began seeking an artist whose style would honor the classic content of this book, while still appealing to modern readers. We found illustrator, Mary Burrows. Burrows’ classic pen-and-ink illustrations fit the content perfectly, and her vision of the characters truly help them to come alive. She captures the drama and pathos of the book, while still maintaining a playfulness that is fitting for children.
